You’re here, aren’t you?

In the midst of his missionary work a young man laments that he only has a rudimentary grasp of ASL. His work has brought him into contact with a large deaf family. He then thinks the thought many of us do: “I wish there was someone here who could help these people.” That’s when his wise friend responded with the titular sentence.

It’s simple, maybe bereft of lyricism and pomp, but it is terribly motivational, don’t you think? Why wait for someone to do what needs to be done? If you discern a need, fill it.

It is what it is.

STOP IT! Everyone should stop saying this idiotic and nonsensical and stupid and pointless dialogue stealing sentence.
